Amnon Neubach-chairman of the board of Pelephone

Amnon Neubach will become the chairman of the board of Pelephone (http://www.pelephone.co.il/), the Israeli cell phone company, held jointly by Motorola and the Israeli communication giant Bezek. Amnon is currently an economic consultant. In the middle of the 80’s during the existential crisis at Scitex, he was brought in for a short period, as a corporate VP finance and helped in the cost cutting and the turn around of the company.

Yair Lahat- now with MobilEye

Yair Lahat, has joined MobilEye of Jerusalem, Israel http://www.mobileye.com/index_profile.html . He has 15 years of experience in Image processing Hardware Design. After graduating from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, he joined Scitex Corp. as a hardware design engineer. Later, Yair was one of the seed group of engineers that formed KARAT Digital Press Ltd – a joint venture between Scitex Corp. and KBA GmbH, to lead the hardware design of the Image Processing module used in the leading products of KARAT and Scitex. Next, Yair Joined the Scitex-backed SciDel Technologies Ltd. to lead the development of the hardware of the Imaging system that electronically inserts advertisements into live television broadcasts of sports and other events.
MobilEye develops driving assistance systems based on a single video camera used in vehicle collision avoidance system.

Dwight Johnson of SDP- retires

Dwight T. Johnson, president, Scitex Digital Printing, Inc. and Executive Vice President,Scitex Corporation LTD is retiring. He was president since 1993 and had previously acted as general manager of Eastman Kodak’s, Dayton Operations before its transformation into the Scitex organization. He joined Kodak in 1963 and held numerous positions during his tenure, including president of Kodak Japan Industries Limited. Amir Pnueli- Computer Science Department, Courant Institute of mathematical Sciences New York University

Prof. Amir Pnueli amir@cs.nyu.edu is Computer Science Department, Courant Institute of mathematical Sciences New York University. Amir’s academic work is mainly known for the introduction of temporal logic into Computer Science.
He has published numerous scientific papers and books, and is a recipient of several international awards (for more see: http://www.cs.nyu.edu/cs/faculty/pnueli/shrtbio.html).
In 1971, he co-founded the software company Mini-Systems, which until 1982 was the sole software provider for Scitex, Israel, manufacturers of computer aided design systems in the color press and graphic printing areas. following the acquisition by Scitex. In 1984, he moved on to found, together with Ido and Hagi Lahover, the company AdCad. The company AdCad later evolved into i-Logix, a firm constructing Computer Aided Software Engineering tools for the specification and design of real time reactive embedded systems.

Ofer Schneid – Founder and CTO of Indocs

Ofer Schneid is the Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Indocs (www.indocs.com) Indocs’ R&D center is located in Herzelia, Israel.. The company products provide platform for editing documents in a web browser. In 1994 he founded Media Solutions Ltd., a multimedia software house products and served as President and CEO until 1997. He also served for three years as Director of R&D Projects at Kodak, and for four years as Senior Engineer and Project Leader at Scitex Corporation in Boston. His past experience includes work with the Israel-based Shoken Group, a publishing operation.

Yossi Faybish moves to Orbotech

Yossi_FaybishAfter 19 years at Scitex, Yossi Faybish yfa@orbotech.com has move on. He has joined Orbotech in Brussels as Image Line Manager. Yossi worked at R&D in Israel and later held various technical and management positions, in customer support and marketing at STE in Brussels. Orbotech (www.orbotech.com) provides technology solutions used by electronics manufacturers to facilitate production of printed circuit boards (PCBs), flat panel displays (FPDs) and electronics assemblies.

John Ingraham, Program Manager at Avid

John Ingraham john_ingraham@avid.com has been appointed to the position of Senior Program Manager at Avid Technologies (www.avid.com) Internet group – AvidProNet (www.avidpronet.com). Avid, a company specialized in video editing software is located in Tewksbury, MA, just north of Boston. The AvidPro group develops virtual production environments and image asset management systems for film and video editing.
John was a senior color scientist at Iris Graphics.

The Talpiot alum Lior Ma’ayan joined Compugen after 13 years in the imaging technology field. He held various positions in research, business development, sales and lastly as the Managing Director of a division all with Scitex in Israel and Europe. Prior to that, he served as a Research Officer in the Israeli Air Force, developing image processing algorithms.
Compugen’s LabOnWeb is the Web’s first life science research engine. LabOnWeb enriches and enhances lab experiments, enabling more efficient, productive life science research.
Compugen NasdaqNM:CGEN) http://www.cgen.com/ is a pioneer in the fields of computational genomics and proteomics. The company just raised $50M in a public offering in early August.

Nice ExScite’s at Nice

Haim Shani

The Israeli company NICE Systems , has announced the appointment of two ExScite members to its most senior positions (for more details see the ExScite NEWS column on the left):
Haim Shani, a vice president of Applied Materials Inc, has been appointed as the company’s new president and chief executive officer. Until recently Haim was vice president at Applied Materials in Israel. Before joining Applied Materials, Shani held senior management positions at Orbotech Ltd. From 1995-1998. From 1992-1993, Shani served as president of Optrotech Europe, based out of Brussels, where he co-managed the merger between Optrotech and Orbot Europe. Previously, between 1982-1992, Shani served in management positions at Scitex Corporation Ltd and IBM Israel.
2) Lauri A. Hanover, was appointed as the company’s new senior vice president and chief financial officer. Before joining Sapiens in 1997, Hanover served for 13 years in various capacities at Scitex Israel, most recently as corporate controller. From 1982-1984, she was a senior financial analyst at Philip Morris Companies, Inc (NYSE: MO).
NICE Systems (NASDAQ: NICE) www.nice.com headquartered in Ra’anana, Israel, is a worldwide leader of multimedia digital recording solutions, applications and related professional services for business interaction management. NICE products and solutions are used in contact centers, trading floors, air traffic control (ATC) sites, CCTV security installations and Government markets.

David Ofek- now Objet CEO

As you recall, we have reported that Scitex had invested in the Rehovot, Israel based company Objet Geometries Ltd. (www.objet.co.il) and it currently holds 19% of the company’s shares. Objet designs and sells 3D solid-modeling device based on proprietary inkjet technology, connected to CAD front-end systems.
Not un-expectedly one of our ExScite member David Ofek ofek@village.uunet.be, has been appointed the company’s CEO. David was the Australian business manager of Scitex and later came back to Israel to become the director of corporate marketing. A couple of years after he was promoted to corporate VP of marketing, he was appointed STE’s president. He left Scitex after the merger with Creo.
In addition, Dror Danai drord@objet.co.il has been appointed director of international business development of Objet in Rehovot. Dror was marketing manager at the CTP group in Scitex Israel, and later moved to STE as the director of indirect channels.
