Ilan_Ben-David

The ExScite and Genoa Color?s CEO Ilan Ben-David has held various top managerial positions in the printing industry, particularly at Scitex. In the last position he held there, Ilan was VP research and CTO of Karat Digital Press (KDP), a joint venture owned by Scitex and KBA, of which he was a cofounder. Prior to his joining Scitex, he was a group manager with Optrotech (later merged with Orbot to form Orbotech). Ilan is an electrical and mechanical engineer, with numerous patents and patent applications in diversified fields.
Genoa Color Technologies of Herzlia Pituach, a four-year old Israeli startup, develops technologies to significantly enhance image quality and the viewing experience for a wide range of displays.
On 11/2004 the company has won Grand Award in the Home Entertainment category of Popular Science magazine?s 2004 Best Of What?s New competition. The winning technology is the company?s ColorPeak Multi-Primary Color, a television display system that substantially enhances the TV viewing experience by nearly doubling the color capability and brightness of TV displays.
?It is a great honor for Genoa Color Technologies to have ColorPeak selected by the editors of Popular Science as Home Entertainment?s top new technology,? Ilan said.

Nostalgia

For the very-very ExScite old -timers, here is a picture from 1970.

The product is a 12″ diameter, mirror telescope with a 5000mm focal

length connected to very hi-speed 35mm motion film camera.
The

picture was taken at the optical lab (then, still in Rehovot, Israel).

The project was designed for the military applications and included

integration of these components into long-range intelligence

observation system.
The project code name was – Kan Akiva.

Akiva,
I remember this Telescope very well. I recall we tested it twice with 2 different teams on 2 different times. If I recall, we were the second team with Eli, & Hanan Drori..
We spent 3 days on mountains in the north, testing this telescope. At that time I was not sure what was the gadget designed for.

Takashi_Hidaki

The Ex-Nihon-Scitex (STN) Takashi Hidaki, director of System Integration department at GA City has sent us this interesting update on another ExScite-intensive company, this time, in Japan.
Hidaki-San has been working for GA City since July 2003, together with other Ex-STN people. The 10 Ex-STN people (a third of the total company employees!) are :Toshibumi Iwabuch, Hiroshi Umekage, Masao Obata, Mitsutoshi Konishi, Takeshi Obikawa, Singo Kotsugai, Yasuko Adachi, Kazuhito Hasegawa, Takashi Yanase.
GA-City is a 50-50 joint venture between TOYO INK and SAKATAINX, an alliance encompassing several prepress technology areas since 2000. GA City?s mission is to provide technical sales support for TOYO INK and SAKATA?s prepress equipment business.
Half of the 30 employees come from STN/TOYO INK and the other half are from SAKATA. Located in Tokyo Japan, GA City has a multi-vendor show room, which is very unique in Japan. The equipment includes: CTP (Creo, DN Screen), DDCP (KPG, Fuji, Konica), RIP (Creo, Screen, Hidelberg, Fuji, H/Q, ArtworkSystem, Eskograhics), Inkjiet printers (HP,Epson,Cannon) and other peripheral equipment. They can now demonstrate to customers using multi-vendor equipment, emulating actual work flow at a customer site. In addition, they provide customers with various technical services including CMS as well as preparing a total system proposal from input to output in multi-vendor configuration to the customers. GA City has two main departments:
1) System Integration department, which covers system consultation and proposal to the customers (managed by Hidaki).
2) Marketing Information department, which operates the showroom and provides technical services for the customers.
